Transfer Station

Effective January 1, 2025 all residents will need a Buckland Transfer Station decal on their vehicle to enter the Buckland Transfer Station.  These decals will cost $20.00 each and will be need to be purchased on an annual basis. Additional decals for vehicles registered at the same address will cost $5.00 each and will also be renewed each year.

To get your decal you can come to the Town Hall during regular business hours Monday through Thursday or you can purchase the decal on line here

The green bag stickers will still be required and those can be purchased at the Buckland Town Hall, McCusker's Market, Shelburne Farm & Garden, Buckland Public Library, and from Frank LaBelles Sales and Service.

NOTE: If you have a swollen or damaged lithium-ion (li-ion) battery it is a serious fire risk. Place in a sealable plastic bag. If you have cat litter or spill absorbent add that to the bag to cover the battery. Place in a plastic pail with additional cat litter/absorbent. Bring to your town transfer station and let the attendant know you have a damaged li-ion battery. Or call the solid waste district office at 413-772-2438 and make an appointment to bring it to the office at 117 Main Street in Greenfield.

You can also pay online for your disposal of Propane Tanks and Appliances

Buckland's Transfer Station is for residents of Buckland only and we can't not accept commercial trash, contractor debris or other bulky items.  As Buckland is a member of the Franklin County Solid Waste District all Buckland residents can use the Greenfield Transfer Station or Colrain Transfer Station year-round. The both accept a wide variety of materials. There is a fee for most items. Click here for more information on Greenfield fees and here for a link to Colrain's fees. To find recycling and disposal locations for a variety of materials try Recycle Smart's Beyond the Bin database.
