Employment Opportunity- Assistant Town Clerk

Part-time as needed

The Town Clerk is now seeking an assistant.  This position is very part-time and provides relief hours for vacations and other time off requests for the Town Clerk, as well as help during busy times, such as Elections. Qualifications include: basic computer skills, including the Microsoft Office Suite; ability to assist residents as needed, with a smile; an aptitude for organization; and understanding for the requirements of Mass General Laws (specific laws will be provided).

The applicant will work under the direction of the Town Clerk, yet will need to work with minimal supervision.  The Assistant would perform basic clerical tasks including birth, death and marriage certificates, town public meeting postings, voter registration, dog licenses, help with elections, daily communications, and support for town hall. Hours would be set in advance to accommodate the Clerk’s time away. The job would be for 15-20 hours per week for 3-4 weeks, each year, and occasional single days, by mutual agreement.
