The Buckland Rec Looks Forward to a Full Season of Fun!

It took longer than expected, but the final touches will be applied to the new pool and pool house before the 2024 season begins. As this is being written, solar panels, donated by generous benefactor Bill Ashley, are being installed on the rooftop at the new pool house to help make the area more sustainable in the future. Another addition that arrived once the area closed for the season, was a new patio area near the pool and playground. This will provide a shady spot for patrons to relax and enjoy a snack at one of the picnic tables that will be placed there for the season.

Fees for the 2024 season will be the same as the 2023 season. A day pass to the pool allows you to come and go for the entire day. When comparing the cost of various forms of entertainment (movies, bowling, a round of golf, etc.), the rate to use the pool for an entire day continues to be a great value. We also offer Season Passes which are even better value.

These fees cover the costs of the two lifeguards and one pool park attendant who are required to be on site while the pool is open. Additionally, a certified pool operator and recreation director are necessary to oversee the safety and operations of the facility. Rounding out the costs are monthly water testing (DEP required), electricity, chemicals, and upkeep of the area (including opening and closing costs each season). It has always been the goal to keep pool passes as affordable as possible, but we must balance the membership fees with the operating costs.

We are pleased to offer two sessions of swimming lessons this summer (each session is two weeks). Additionally, we are excited to announce that we will be offering adult water fitness classes! These will be offered in two sessions (8 classes per session).

Don’t forget about the amazing Pavilion that is available to rent for your party, family reunion, or other occasion. The area is under cover and has fully accessible restrooms available as part of the rental. Additionally, the ball field, and basketball/pickleball court are yours to use, along with corn hole boards a beautiful fire pit (seasonal use) and seating area with outdoor lighting.

Please contact Pam Guyette at the Buckland Town Hall ( adminassist@town.buckland.ma.us or 413-625-6330 extension 1) to purchase pool passes, sign up for swim lessons or water fitness classes, and to rent the pavilion.

Reminders! There is no parking along the fence or in front of the gate when we are closed. Ashfield Road / Route 112 is state property and they have posted the No Parking. Parking in front of the gate is a public safety issue and we appreciate your consideration.

There is No Smoking - anywhere on the Buckland Recreation property. Period.
