The Town Clerk, Select Board and Moderator have determined that Buckland residents will have the chance to cast their vote for Town Officials on Tuesday, June 23rd and will hold Annual Town Meeting on Saturday, June 27th. The Annual Election was originally scheduled for May 4th and the Town Meeting for May 6th but both were rescheduled due to concerns regarding Covid-19.
Officials felt the delay was necessary to everyone with a safe space to perform there civic responsibilities.
While the Town’s single poll location, Town Hall, will be open for voters to cast their votes in person on June 23rd, the Town Clerk’s Office is encouraging voters to request their ballots in advance by contacting the Town Clerk’s office. Election rules state that if your ballot is returned to the Clerk’s office by the time the polls close at 8 p.m. Late ballots will not be counted.
Residents wishing to register to vote must do so by June 3, 2020. There will be special voter registration hours from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8 p.m. on June 3rd.

Town Meeting will be held at 10 a.m. in the parking lot of the Mohawk Trail Regional School on Ashfield Road (Route 112) to accommodate social distancing protocols. The day of the week was also changed from Wednesday to Saturday to allow the meeting to be held during daylight hours. A rain date of Sunday, June 28 at 4 p.m. has been proposed.
The Select Board, Finance Committee and Moderator will work to prepare a Warrant with articles considered essential to Town operations. A 2nd Town Meeting will be scheduled to address other articles when a more traditional format can be observed.
The deadline to register to vote at the Town Meeting is June 5th.
